Grow

We believe that Men should accept challenges and step into the unknown. "One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again." - Abraham Maslow

Why you need to be here:

Men need a tribe to thrive. If we remove alcohol, sports, and our careers we find that most men have no real friends. Men are hurting and in a bad way in our culture currently. Our life expectancy is five years less than that of females. Men commit suicide four times more often than females. We are two times more likely to binge drink, we have a significantly higher rate of alcohol related accidents and accidental death. We have a record high number of mental health issues facing men in today’s society, something’s chewing up and spitting out men, what is it?

Who should attend:

men looking to challenge themselves.

Men are not afraid to do difficult things. Growth can only happen when we embrace the uncomfortable and step into the unknown. If nothing changes, nothing will change, Do something different and spend the weekend away from the couch. We all know we could be doing better in most areas of our lives. We all want to be better men, better husbands, better fathers, and better human beings. Simply wanting to be better at these things will not yield results, we must put in the work. Take this invitation as a call to action to implement life long change.

men who hate the outdoors or are intimidated by it.

Never camped before - great. Afraid of tent camping in the mountains on a cold February weekend - perfect. These concerns are the very reasons you need to commit to be here, earning a seat at the campfire. The group of men already committed to this event have a wealth of experience and they will not let you fail. Don’t let the fear of doing something new hold you back from an amazing experience.

Men that are struggling.

Don’t continue to go it alone, it takes courage to seek out help. Their’s never been a more difficult time to be an authentic man in today’s world. We’re all working through our own struggles. The first step in learning to “Struggle Well” is to open up and accept the idea that change is possible. You aren’t broken, and there is nothing wrong with you,

Men that are tired of Zoom calls and teleconferences.

Tired of living a life in front of the computer screen ? We were not made to be alone, we need human connection. Join us for fellowship, friendship, connection, and competition. Covid-19 has had a significant impact on all of us, and there has never been more of a need to meet in person. Spend the weekend with authentic men, breaking bread, sharing tasty beverages, and enjoying the company of others.

FAQs

what gear is required?

A tent, a sleeping bag, and a good camp chair for starters. We will provide a more detailed gear list after registration. We recommend a quality winter rated sleeping bag for obvious reasons. You may share a tent with another participant and we will have a few loaner tents available upon request.

What if I cannot sleep in a tent?

The facility has bunk rooms available along with bathroom facilities. You will be about 1/2 mile from base camp but you will still be able to participate in all events. We cannot promise that some of the men won’t hassle you for not roughing it.

What is the weather plan?

We do not plan to reschedule or shift due to weather. The plan is to Man-up and deal with the weather recognizing that it is out of our control. If it rains we will be wetter, if it snows we will deal with it. We will be sleeping outdoors under the stars but we will be having our meetings and meals in an indoor warm facility.

What is included in the cost?

The cost of the campsite and it’s facilities, meals, snacks, coffee, drinks (not frosty tall boys those are BYOB), competition prizes, break-out sessions, access to an online interactive community, and some amazingly sweet SWAG.

will we hug trees and sing kumbaya?

No but we may have to chop a few down and throw axes at others. You’re free to sing whatever you like as loud as you like, there are no planned Kumbaya sessions.

IS group sharing required?

Absolutely not. We intend to create an environment where men feel safe, sharing their struggles and triumphs with one another. We respect each individual’s right to share as much or as little as they decide.

“Now I see the secret of making the best person, it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”

— Walt Whitman
